November 2025 – Guavira Project is Guest at Nascente Viva

The Guavira Project is an organized initiative aimed at fostering a network of people and institutions — researchers, producers, companies, and the community — focused on the cultivation, research, development, and commercialization of guavira. Guavira is a native fruit of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Nascente Viva supports this initiative by including guavira in our renaturation area. November 2025 – European Week of Waste Reduction. A Solidary Action

In our project the last tree planting action was made and so finishing our reached golas for 2025. In a solidary action in Frankfurt, we took part at the European Week of Waste Reduction in partnership with Billabong Family Riedberg and of course a barefoot run. September 2025 – #runningfortheplanet2025. A Solidary Action

And once again, we carried out a solidarity activity connecting Dourados and Frankfurt within our Nascente Viva project. In Dourados, in celebration of Brazil’s Tree Day, 342 native trees were planted by 120 students from the partner schools Guateka and Tengatuí. In Frankfurt, we held the #runningfortheplanet2025 run in solidarity with the planting, through the nonprofit organization Tarahumara Fans e.V. Together, we reaffirmed our commitment to a more sustainable future.

June 2025 – Environmetal Week a Solidary Action

Due to the Environment Week in June, students from the Tengatuí and Guateka Indigenous Schools took part in several activities focused on environmental education and sustainability:
1. A visit to SANESUL to understand the entire journey of water, from collection to final consumption
2. Lectures and discussions at the schools on: Sustainability; Water and soil conservation; Impacts of pesticide use; Proper waste management; Global warming.
Participants included Professor Cléber (project coordinator), Dona Lenir (project initiator), Jaguapirú Vice-Chief Ivan (Tainha), Seu Roberto, Seu Gerson (guardians of the seedlings), scholarship holders, and the children of the community.
In Germany, the project partner Tarahumara Fans e.V. celebrated with a barefoot hike, symbolizing contact with the earth and solidarity with the Nascente Viva Project.

May 2025 – 4. Recognition: Honourable Mention

Nascente Viva has been recognised at the 2024–2025 School + Nature Creativity Awards organised by the Alana Institute – a non-profit organisation based in São Paulo that works to promote the rights and development of children and young people.
The award recognises projects that encourage young people to create solutions for nature in their schools, communities and cities. This is exactly what Nascente Viva stands for.

March 2025 – 7th Birthday of Nascente Viva and Projet Visit

Project birthday, March 22, which is also World Water Day. We planted more than 1500 trees in the first planting phase! Of these, 1252 trees were our target for the beginning of 2025 and 186 trees were added through the runners participation in #runningfortheplanet2024 in Frankfurt-Germany! The trees were planted by the students from the cooperated schools in the indigenous village Guateka and Tengatuí. On april 27th in a solidary act, we hiked barefoot with Ralf from Hohemark to Saalburg in Germany.

November 2024 – Nascente Viva Gets Support from PICTEC. Bareffot Night Run as part of the European Week for Waste Redecution. a solidary Action with the Scholarshios Holders

Nascente Viva project had the support from PICTEC (Mato Grosso do Sul State Scientific and Technological Initiation Programme) from the 1st of October 2023 to the 30th of September 2024. In the whole they supported with 4.500€ the environmental education and the 4 scholarship holders, pupils from the Guateka indigenous school, where the seedling house and cistern are. All of the 4 scholars decided after the programm to go for an university study. In solidarity we run in Frankfurt!

On the 21st of September is the tree day in Brazil. Since the students of our project had other events on this day, we anticipated the action for the 05.09.24. Like always, a social planting day. As a solidary action we ran on the 22.9 #runningfortheplanet2024 in Frankfurt. Before the planting all people involved, specially the project scholarship holders, students from the partner school in the village, discussed about the importance of caring for the environment.

June 2024 – A Solidary Event with Project as Part of the Enviromental Week.

In June we had the environment week, in our project. The pupils of the indigenous schools Guateka and Tengatuí, where the project is based, experienced different events around sustainability along the month:
1.Visit to SANESUL the city sewerage company, to understand the whole process water goes through until the final use.
2. At school many speeches were made around sustainability: care of water resources, the effects of the use of pesticides for the environment, the correct handling of waste and causes and consequences of global warming.
The teachers Cléber, Istela, Mary, Kelly, Kamylla, Kaléo, Simone, Cajetano and Kátia were involved as well as IMAM (Environment Institute) and the universities UFGD and UEMS.
In Germany, Darmstadt we had a bare foot hiking event in a solidary action.

02.05.2024 – A Big Fire Destroyed Half Hectar Trees!

Unfortunately there was a big fire in our project. A 1/2 hectare was burnt, the trees were barely 1 year old. There is a resident close to the area, Seu Roberto, we had him to thank that it didn’t get worse. He immediately called the fire brigade and until they arrived, he tried to put out the fire with a watering can! Even though it was bad, it caused great solidarity throughout the indigenous village.The indigenous village chief (red T-shirt) personally expressed his feelings to us. And life goes on the replanting of the area was fully completed in august 2024.

22.03.2024 – 6th anniversary of Nascente Viva

22.03.2024 6th anniversary of Nascente Viva. On 22 March, World Water Day and the project’s anniversary, a planting event was held. 660 trees were planted by 170 indigenous students from the village’s co-operative schools. In solidarity, we ran in Frankfurt, barefoot of course!

October 2023 – 3. Distinction: Finalist in the Sustainable School Award

The Guateka Marçal de Souza State Intercultural Indigenous School was a finalist in the Sustainable Schools Award with the Nascente Viva project – an initiative by Santillana, the Organisation of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and the Santillana Foundation.
The award recognises schools which, in partnership with their communities, develop projects aimed at bringing about significant change in the fields of education and socio-environmental management, as well as raising awareness among younger generations about the protection and restoration of the planet.

Dourados-Frankfurt solidary action! On the 17th of September in Frankfurt – Germany, we run #runningfortheplanet2023 and always with the goal of raising funds for Nascente Viva. 22. and 25.06.2023 – Environment Week

On the 22.06.23, trees were planted at the Ramão Martins Municipal School. It was an act of solidarity, since the tree nursery is located in the Guateka School, but because there are few trees in the school mentioned, the project decided, in an act of cooperation, donate and plant the trees together with the students there! That was the project environmental week action. In Frankfurt on the 25th we run together with the refugees from Ukraine in an act of global solidarity to the planting activity in Dourados.

22.- 24.03.2023 – Nascente Viva 5th Birthday. A Solidarity Action

On the 22nd was the 5th birthday of Nascente Viva. Days before everything was prepared for the tree planting on the 22. But that was not all, on the 23. and 24. many talks with the students took place, all around water, the project development, environmental protection and the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Yes, after 5 years, we are more professional and motivated to keep on! In Germany, Frankfurt we ran in an act of solidarity for the planting action in Brazil.

February 2023. Annual Visit to Nascente Viva Project

The videos in the link show the progress of our project. The renaturated area is already a place where children can find joy, fun and water, instead of going after drugs, violence, prostitution or being beggars in the city, they have now a place worth to stay. Much work still need to be done, many trees still need to be planted and this space needs to be enlarged.

25.9.22 and 4.10.22 – #runningfortheplanet2022 a Solidary Action

On the occasion of the “Tree Day” in Brazil on September 21st., pupils of the cooperated indigenous schools organized a tree planting campaign and an environmental fair on the 4th of October. 21.08.2022 – MainZukunftpavillon and Painting of the Cistern

On August 21, we participated in the Mainkai Run (also barefoot) as part of the Environment Week “Bring the Mainkai to Bloom!”, a campaign organized by Umweltlernen in Frankfurt e.V. This was a global solidarity action: while we ran in Frankfurt, students from the Guateka School in Dourados painted our cistern with the project name “Nascente Viva.”

2021 to 2022 – Participation of Yvy Porã in the Renaturation of the Jaguapirú River

The Nascente Viva environmental recovery project has been supported by various partners since its launch in 2018. In 2021, the Association Indigenous Youth Action (AJI), active in the Village of Dourados for over 20 years, secured funding through the FUNAI–UNDP (PNUD) partnership under the BRA 001 call.
Between November 2021 and August 2022, R$100,000 was invested in the project during the Yvy Porã phase. The funds supported the purchase of seedlings, equipment, and tools, as well as community engagement. Local residents received small incentives to act as guardians of the seedlings, ensuring their care and monitoring.
Additionally, about R$16,000 was allocated to revitalize the Guateka School nursery, enabling local seedling production and engaging younger generations in environmental restoration activities.

30.03.2022 – Nascente Viva 4. Anniversary. A Solidary Action.

We had again a global solidary action due to the 4th anniversary of the Nascente Viva project. On the 27th of March, in Germany, Frankfurt we run barefoot for the project, celebrated the always upwards success of the project, even if slow in corona time. On the 30th of March in Brazil, Dourados the pupils of the indigenous schools planted trees on the fresh widened Jaguapirú stream.

Janeiro de 2022 – Diálogo de Parceria com IMAM, UEMS e com o Prefeito de Dourados Alan Guedes.

Cooperation with public organisation and the municipal government is fundamental for our project. We had a meeting with the environment institute IMAM where vice-cacique Alex from Bororó and his with Ioni, pedaguoge at the Araporã indigenous school were present, as well as Prof. Dr. Leila e o Prof. Dr. Vinícius from the UEMS University. After that cccompained by Aquiles, our lawyer and Wolmer the president of the environment istitute IMAM, we had the opportunity to present the Nascente Viva project the Dourados city mayor Alan Guedes and asked for support. 3. e 4.12.2021 – Visita da UEMS à Aldeia Jaguapirú-Bororó.

Dia 3.12.21 Aquiles, Cléber e Elen do Nascente Viva continuaram os diálogos com a universidade UEMS de Dourados a fim de uma nova cooperação para o projeto Nascente Viva. Após o vice-cacique Alex ter nos contatado para continuarmos o Nascente Viva em sua aldeia, a Bororó. Que honra! 27.09.2021 – 1. Reconhecimento: Prêmio Coração Verde

O professor Cajetano Vera da escola Tengatuí foi reconhecido com o prêmio Coração Verde por seu empenho no projeto Nascente Viva. O prêmio foi instituído em 2002 pelo Decreto Legislativo nº 242/02 da cidade de Dourados e homenageia pessoas e organizações que se destacam pelo compromisso com a proteção ambiental.

26.09.2021 – #runningfortheplanet2021. 2. Corrida Global com Distanciamento do Tarahumara Fans pelo Nascente Viva. 18 países participaram.

Como parte do dia da árvore no Brasil, uma campanha de plantio de árvores foi feita no nosso projeto no dia 22 de setembro. Junho e julho de 2021 – Construção Coletiva da Cisterna

Em parceria com a Escola Estadual Guateka, foi construído um viveiro para produção das mudas nativas que vem passando por dificuldades com a quantidade de água necessária para irrigação das mudas. Na última reunião do comitê gestor do projeto, ficou definido a construção de uma cisterna para armazenamento de água para possibilitar a produção das mudas nativas. Entre os dias 28/06/2021 a 03/07/2021, foi realizado na forma de uma oficina prática a construção da referida e esperada cisterna; que trás o significado da esperança e do aproveitamento racional da água como recurso precioso para a vida e a produção. A técnica de construção a disposição a organização da equipe a mobilização dos materiais e o registro de todo processo da construção, foram fundamentais para o sucesso da atividade que deixou como principais avanços a cisterna do viveiro construída e um grupo de moradores da aldeia treinados e capacitados para construir cisternas em outras localidades. A construção da cisterna teve novos colaboradores: escola, professores, diretores, Funai e moradores da aldeia que só tem a somar com a causa. Parabéns à equipe que construiu a cisterna!

09.07.2019 – Incêndio Criminoso Destrói a Casa de Reza que Abençoou o Projeto Nascente Viva

A antiga Casa de Reza (Opy) dos pajés Dona Alda e Seu Getúlio foi criminosamente incendiada. Segundo Dona Alda, objetos religiosos indígenas com mais de 500 anos foram destruídos. De acordo com o professor Cajetano, conforme relatado em vídeo abaixo, há muita intolerância religiosa na aldeia. Antes do início do projeto, visitamos esse centro espiritual para pedir permissão para sua realização. Dona Alda realizou uma reza indígena, abençoando o projeto, e nos entregou um punhado de terra de dentro da Opy numa cuia, afirmando que o projeto estava abençoado.
A Opy é um dos elementos mais importantes na organização social e religiosa é o espaço sagrado central na vida espiritual da comunidade. A sua destruição ou dano não representa apenas a perda de uma construção, mas um impacto profundo espiritual, cultural e coletivo.

05.06.2019 – 1. Reconhecimento: Troféu Marco Vede

A professora Zefa Lobschenko recebeu o Troféu Marco Verde por seu trabalho pioneiro no projeto Nascente Viva – um prêmio da Prefeitura de Dourados, concedido pelo Instituto de Meio Ambiente (IMAM) em parceria com o Conselho Municipal de Defesa do Meio Ambiente (Comdam). O troféu homenageia pessoas que causam um impacto ambiental significativo no município.

16., 19. e 26. 01. 2019 – Mutirão para Limpeza e Manutenção da Unidade Piloto do Nascente Viva

Atividades de limpeza e manutenção coordenada por Dona Lenir e pelos professores Cléber e Cajetano. O mutirão em pról do Nascente Viva foi alvo de reportagem da TV local destacando a participação da comunidade no projeto de recuperação das nascentes das Aldeias de Dourados.

04. 01. 2019 – Reunião de Avaliação e Planejamento do Projeto

O núcleo de coordenação do projeto Nascente Viva realizou sua reunião anual de avaliação e planejamento. Metas para 2019 com grandes avanços para o projeto.
Principais atividades programadas em 2019: Manutenção e incremento da unidade piloto do córrego Jaguapirú, comemoração do dia da água, dia da árvore, semana do indígena, produção de mudas.
Neste dia também foram plantadas duas árvores, um ipê amarelo para Elen do Tarahumara Fans na Alemanha e um pau-Brasil para profesora Zefa da UFGD.

03. 01. 2019 – 1. Visita pública ao Nascente Viva

Como forma de aproximar de fomentar o diálogo intercultural entre a comunidade indígena e a cidade de Dourados, bem como simpatizantes do projeto Nascente Viva, foi realizada uma visita em diversos áreas da Aldeia Indígena Jaguapirú-Bororó. Além das casas de reza, vila olímpica e grupos de produção de artesanatos, os visitantantes puderam conhecer o viveiro de mudas e a unidade de piloto de recuperação da nascente do córrego Jaguapirú.

17. 08. 2018 – Divulgação na Alemanha do projeto Nascente Viva

Durante os dias 10 a 18 de agosto de 2018, o projeto Nascente Viva foi apresentado para alguns parceiros na Alemanha na estadia do Aquiles Paulus da APOMS junto com a coordenadora do Grupo Tarahumara Fans, parceira internacional do projeto.

12. 8. 2018 – Lançamento Internacional do Projeto Nascente Viva em Frankfurt, Alemanha

A internacionalização do Nascente Viva teve início na Alemanha. Em Frankfurt, a associação parceira Tarahumara Fans e.V. organizou a corrida de lançamento internacional do projeto, da qual participaram mais de 300 atletas. Entre os convidados estavam Aquiles Paulus (hoje Instituto Justitia), bem como a vice-reitora de Extensão da Universidade Federal de Grande Dourados, Dra. Juliana Carrijo, e a coordenadora Dra. Mara Massuy.
Um detalhe revelou o espírito do projeto: as medalhas da corrida eram colares indígenas, confeccionados pelo grupo de artesãos Guaté, da Aldeia Jaguapirú-Bororó – um reconhecimento à cultura e ao trabalho dessas pessoas, para as quais e com as quais o projeto foi criado desde o início.

27. 6. 2018 – Construção do Viveiro de Mudas na Escola Guateka

No dia do início da construção do viveiro, foi feito um seminário para discutir questões ambientais com os alunos da Escola Indígena Municipal Tengatuí Marangatu e da Escola Indígena Intercultural Estadual Guateka.

22. 3. 2018 – Inauguração do projeto no dia da água

22 de março de 2018, inauguração do projeto e dia da água, realizada na nascente do córrego Jaguapirú com plantio de mudas para sinalizar o estabelecimento da unidade de referência do projeto Nascente Viva. Contou com a participação de mais de 300 alunos da Escola Indígena Intercultural Estadual Guateka e da Escola Indígena Municipal Tengatuí Marangatu , bem como colaboradores em geral. O Jornal ‘‘O Progresso’’ noticiou a inauguração do projeto, vide foto abaixo.

28.11. 2017 – Reunião de Parceiros Estratégicos

Reunião realizada na reitoria da UFGD no dia 28.11.2017, onde se estabeleceu as bases do projeto Nascente Viva. Foi fechado um acordo entre: AMID, representado por Dona Lenir; APOMS, representado por Olácio Komori e Aquiles Paulus no suporte técnico; Tarahumara Fans e.V de Frankfurt, Alemanha representado por Elen Mary Machado na internacionalização do projeto e capitalização de recursos e UFGD representada pela professora Zefa Pereira na concepção do projeto de renaturação e autorizações perante órgãos públicos.
